How it works

There are 2 ways that our Professional Executor Services can help.

First, our Professional Executor can be named in your Will and automatically take on executor duties upon your passing.  

The other way is by the legal nomination process when you are already named as an Executor in someone else’s estate. Alberta law allows an Executor to delegate their role to another person by nominating that person to act on their behalf. As part of our service, we will complete the nomination process to allow our Professional Executor to take your place. 

Once named as Executor, our Professional Executor takes on all the responsibilities of the administration of the Estate, including

  • Locating and valuing assets

  • Paying debts, taxes, and final expenses

  • Managing estate accounts and records

  • Applying to the Court for a Grant of Probate (or a Grant of Administration if there is no Will)

  • Distributing assets to beneficiaries according to the will or law

Our pricing is based on a percentage of the value of the Estate, and includes the legal fees required to receive the a Grant of Probate or Grant of Administration. This inclusive approach can save the estate thousands of dollars compared to other Estate administration service providers may not include the legal fees for a Grant of Probate or Administration in their pricing.

Our professional fees are based on our assessment of the complexity of the Estate, considering factors such as the value of the Estate, the complexity of the assets and investments, and the number of gifts and the beneficiaries.
